Therapeutic/Relaxation Massage

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM  MASSAGE SESSIONS AT LUMINARY WELLNESS

Sessions typically last 1 hour or 90 minutes which generally is enough time for a full body massage, although you should expect the first session to be a little longer as your therapist will ask you about your medical history along with other relevant health and lifestyle details. They might also check for any muscular imbalances.  From this feedback the therapist can then tailor the massage specifically for you.
The massage may begin with a series of fluid strokes which encourages the body and nervous system to enter a tranquil and relaxed state.  The therapist heightens the pressure of your massage on certain areas of your body to alleviate areas that they find holding muscular tension.  The use of  light oils by the therapist permits muscles to be massaged smoothly, whilst also hydrating the skin.  Shane, who is a Remedial Massage Therapist, makes his own blend of massage oil using a variety of organic plant oils with a touch of therapeutic grade essential oils to have it be healthy for your skin and body as well as being able to safely absorb in and not leave you feeling greasy for hours after the massage session.

Following the treatment you may feel slower in movement for a short time and you also may experience a sense of raised energy levels or a heightened productivity, which can last for a few days as well as better quality of sleep.  Be sure to drink plenty of water afterwards as it will aid any toxins which have been released to be cleared from the body.

What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy is the manipulation of the superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance function and promote relaxation and well-being.

In an age of technical and, at times, impersonal medicine, massage offers a drug free, non-invasive and humanistic approach based on the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Massage treatment enables the body’s recovery and healing process from some acute and chronic conditions.  Additionally it enhances lymph and blood circulation, supplying fresh oxygen and nutrients to the recovering tissues.

Therapeutic massage at Luminary Wellness is acknowledged for its ability to improve muscle tone and enhance the body’s circulation, whilst affecting the body’s overall ability to relax and minimize tension within muscles. (You’re going to feel better)

Massage is one of the most effective therapies used to strengthen the immune system, reduce stress, improve the skin, strengthen the bones and the joints, and improve the body’s circulation. It assists to flush out waste products and helps to maintain youthfulness.
